Live Music Safari 2015: ALTA at Loop
The ALTA alternative
Straight from Melbourne’s live music scene, duo Hannah Lesser (vocals) and Julius Dowson (production), hold a reputation as the city’s project to watch. Supporting the likes of Bonobo at The Palace Theatre and Miles Bonny for his Melbourne show, it’s not hard to see why ALTA was handpicked as one of triple j’s favourite performances at Strawberry Fields, Paradise Music Festival and Inca Roads.
ALTA have been scooping up worldwide attention with performances at Soundwave in Croatia, headlining in London and performing in various sideshows around Europe’s stage with the likes of UZ, Tokimonsta, Jonwayne and Taku. Locally, ALTA shares the stage with the likes of Willow Beats, Rat & Co, Ginger and Ghost, Fishing and Leaks.
Their single, Wash it Down, was premiered by VICE Thump in May 2014. ALTA were also new signees to Universal imprint Caroline Australia, with the release of their bold, pulsating and hypnotic new single Hold Your Fire at the end of 2014.
