Howdy Web Scientists, we kick off the 2016 Web Science Workshop with a big science-y bang – a couple of web scientists whose curiosity cannot be contained!
Richard Fisk – Soma-Analytics Go Head-To-Head
Developers are usually the most curious members of a web team, and this gent is no exception. When not building apps at Seek.com.au, Richard exercises. A lot. He took it upon himself to self-experiment and compare two different lifestyle-health-analytics products – the Fitbit and the Polar Watch, to see where their strengths and weaknesses lay.
Zoe Rose – Ontologies For Information Architecture
Having presented to a room of scientists at the European Bioinformatics Institute, the irrepressible architect-of-information Zoe Rose will be speaking about something that concerns us all when creating navigations on a website – dealing with hierarchies and taxonomies. She will also show us what Kevin Bacon, a jellyfish and Emperor Hirohito have in common. Can’t wait!
On the night:
