Justice for Sisters is a group in Malaysia supporting trans people who are currently being criminalised by the state. Under Malaysian law there is no recognition of trans people’s identities and in places people are being arrested. An already marginalised community needs financial support for legal defenses and ongoing campaigns. Come along for a night of poetry, film and zines with all funds going to the organisation.

This event is taking place on the land of the Wurundjeri people. This land was stolen and never ceded. Always was and always will be Aboriginal land.

Dawn Iris Dangkomen
Racerage

Dawn is a queer trans woman of Thai background. An illustration student, she drifts between poetry, paintings, prose, and music, seeking the right medium in the moment for her voice and her reflections on identity. Through her creative works, she seeks to capture the fragility and tender resilience of her experience in a white-cis-centred society.

Racerage is an emerging politi-cute queer post-internet rapper based on Wurundjeri country. Their lyrical themes draw from their background in spoken word; focussing on the struggles, frustrations and interweb memery of intersectional feminism, decolonisation, race issues and the queer bubble. Racerage collaborates primarily with other QTIPOC beatmakers and artists and is excited about creating creative expression within and about their communities.

The film we will be showing is #resistayol
#resistayol accompanies trans* activist S?evval K?l?รง during the 21st Istanbul LGBTI Pride caught up in the reflexions of carnivalesque Gezi Park Uprising. #resistayol is a turbulent audiovisual journey witnessing a wind of hope, humour, and solidarity wished to be remembered in the politics of Turkey today.
