Join Road to Refuge for a night of thought-provoking film and discussion.
We are proud to present two shorts from Australia’s young award-winning filmmakers, Nowhere Line by Lukas Schrank (http://portfolio.lukasschrank.com/nowhere-line) and The Phoenix by Nora Niasari (http://noraniasari.com/2014/12/12/the-phoenix-short-film-2014/“. Using the medium of film, the two directors capture the harsh and widely ignored reality of mandatory detention.
The two screenings will be followed by a panel discussion; exploring the film’s themes and discussing the idea of advocacy through art, in its various forms.
The panel will be comprised of:
– Nora Niasari, Filmmaker The Phoenix
– Baqir Khan, Member Volunteer Coordinator at the ASRC, former Cultural Support Coordinator at Life Without Barriers
– Celine Yap, Activist Arts Festival Director for Amnesty International, Presenter for Refugee Radio on 3CR, member of folk band – Little Foot
