PROCESS – Architect Forum – “Public Spaces”

Join PROCESS this Wednesday the 2nd of February from 6:30 pm at Loop Project Space & Bar as we showcase a gallery of exemplary and award winning public buildings.

We will be opening up the dialogue around public architecture and the design process behind each project.

Speaker #1 Louise GoodmanSenior Associate at fjmtstudio, Louise’s experience delivering civic and community projects of excellence, has sustained a career with a focus on adaptive re-use and heritage in the public and education realms. Louise’s interest is in developing a project through site investigations, and stakeholder consultation, to inform a contextual and collaborative architectural process. Contributions to the profession include the 2021 AIA awards Heritage jury and earlier tutoring design studios at the University of Melbourne and RMIT. At other times she is hanging out with her family, sharing a love of nature, art, and drawing.

Speaker #2 Sonja SyreSonja moved to Melbourne in 2004, after completing her architectural studies and five years in practice in Germany. Her responsibilities evolved to design, documentation and contract administration on a range of educational projects. Since joining Denton Corker Marshall in January 2008, her focus has predominantly been on research, educational and civic projects. Sonja completed a masters degree in project management at Melbourne’s RMIT in 2010, which provided her with enhanced skills in project leadership and delivery. Sonja has been a guest critic and sessional tutor for several Universities as well as a supportive mentor to the next generation of architects.

Speaker #3 Scott BalmfortScott is founding Director of TERROIR architects. The practice was established in Hobart and Sydney simultaneously in 1999 and expanded internationally with TERROIR ApS in Copenhagen in 2010. Scott graduated from the University of Tasmania and has an invited Masters of Architecture from RMIT University. He is a Registered Architect in Tasmania and Victoria, a former Australian Institute of Architects Chapter Councillor, and an Adjunct Professor of the University of Tasmania’s School of Architecture since 2008.Scott has led a range of innovative, award winning and internationally published architecture and urban design projects, and consistently champions in his work the place-based values and influences of his Tasmanian upbringing.

Speaker #4 announcement ?Andy has designed, led and delivered numerous award-winning and highly regarded projects across a wide range of sectors. He is committed to creating built environments that emerge from rich and meaningful ideas – developed from an understanding of place, culture and history.Education projects have been a major focus in Andy’s career, fuelled by the passion and commitment of client groups and the social and education benefits that these projects deliver to communities.Andy is a celebrated design leader, generating a united vision and passion for the projects he works on. He has demonstrated a drive to create built environments that are cherished by those who inhabit them and endure the test of time.
