Music and/or sound is most often associated with a compositional technique, or style, ‘serialism’ as it is best known, a broad designator referring to the ordering of things, whether they are pitches, durations, dynamics and so on.
Tone Theory, in it’s inherent and forward thinking nature (due to electronic and other influences) may and indeed, seeks to challenge previous perceptions of that serialist form.
