Following the amazing success of the inaugural Sydney Indie Film Festival, which screened 62 films from 20 countries over 8 entertaining days, we are excited to bring the celebration of independent filmmaking to Melbourne, launching the first ever Melbourne Indie Film Festival, 6 days of international film’s events, in the heart of beautiful Melbourne, Australia.

The Melbourne Indie Film Festival will feature some of the best of independent cinema from around the world, including a mix of award winning films and outstanding emerging talent in the film industry.

The festival has been set-up to showcase new and creative works by emerging local and international artists.

Feature Film:

“Where Do We Go From Here?” (UK)
(Victorian Premiere)

“What is the appeal for a 25 year old to live in a care home?” This is the question; dejected nurse Jen asks when she joins the ranks at the “Easy love care home”. She is surprised to find a 25-year-old man (James) living and working in the care home.

James and his three, elderly best fiends hatch a plan to go on one last adventure and the only medical cover they can get is the one person who doesn’t want to be around old people. Will their plan go off without a hitch or is there a sell by date on adventure?

‘Dance With Me’ is a story about letting go something you love.

Michael takes the dance lessons he wishes he’d taken before his wife died.

His teenage daughter Emma also grieves for her mother, but is coping better.

Dance with Me is a powerful short film about the importance of letting go & moving forward.

Julian is struggling to come to terms with the death of his wife. He has shut down and cut himself off from the people in his life.

One day, whilst sitting in his Chesterfield chair looking out of his window, he sees a dog. Intrigued, he approaches the dog. As Julian tries to reach out the dog runs away into a forrest that sits at the end of his garden. Julian follows the dog and he is transported through memories from his life that spans all four seasons.

Julian’s story is about love, hope and regret.

When Viking role player Vidar is sidelined to “the land of the dead” he seeks help of the god Odin, who agrees to teach Vidar the ways of the Vikings if he takes him to a mystical Runestone. Together they embark on a journey that will test Vidar’s wits, bravery and his ability to go completely berserk.
