In times of adversity, we need community most. With the marriage equality postal survey now confirmed, the LGBTI community will be subjected to increased discrimination and vitriol; to counter this, Loop Project Space & Bar is inviting members of the LBGTI+ community into our safe, supportive and inclusive space where Love Is Love, and diversity is embraced and celebrated.

On Tuesday the government will send out postal surveys so LOOP is inviting members of the LBGTI+ community and marriage equality supporters to come together to support one another, share stories and build new friendships.

During the night LOOP will screen a short documentary of LBGTI+ activism in Melbourne and project Michael Barnett‘s photographs on Equal Love’s mass rally. Premium international lager and house wine will be sold at a discounted rate of $8, with $4 from every drink sale being donated to QLife Australia, a national phone and web chat service that provides free, anonymous counselling and support for members of the LBGTI+ community.

Come join us on Tuesday, bring your partner, your lover, your friends and your supporters to meet and support others. All Marriage Equality Supporters welcome.

We are a ground floor accessible bar with ramps and disabled toilets.

This event will be the first of LOOP’s Love Is Love weekly free arts campaign to support marriage equality and LBGTI+ communities.

Our aim is to build a community of artists, activist, academics and marriage equality supporters committed to sharing love and letting the LBGTI+ community know they are not alone.

Starting Tuesday we will be projecting images from the Australian Lesbian and Gay Archives every Monday to Thursday between 5-7pm.

Every week, until the postal survey results are announced, we are running a wide range of queer arts events, including films, panel discussions, spoken word and cabaret performances- stay tuned for more details.

Hope to see you on Tuesday!
