Transitions is a small collection of recent work from fine artist Jessie Imam. These photographic, sculptural and video works explore the boundaries of the body and examine the passage of movement across these borders.
Imam works within photography, the moving image and installation to create works centred around themes of embodiment and the female perspective.
Imam completed a Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours) from Monash University in 2014. She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions nationally and has participated in international collaborations, as well as co-curating a number of group exhibitions. Her work is held in the Nillumbik Shire Public Art Collection, as well as a number of private collections.
Imam was awarded the Nillumbik Prize in 2015, was the recipient of the Laughing Waters Artist in Residence in 2011 and will be participating in the AARK Residency Program in Finland later in 2017.
