Matthew Dettmer is a multidisciplinary artist based in Melbourne. He graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours) in 2012. His work deals with elements of consumerism, design and cultural trends through sculpture and painting. It is through observation and an investigation into the objects and imagery that surround him on a daily basis that he creates re-imagined forms of an idealistic personal aesthetic. He has recently exhibited at C3 Contemporary Art Space, Bus Projects and Platform Contemporary Art Spaces. In 2014 Matthew was a recipient of ArtStart from the Australia Council and in 2013, the Studio Start Up residency at the Abbotsford Convent.
