A pipe burst at my parents’ house, so most of my possessions were eaten by mould shortly after I moved out of home. Almost anything can be born from or destroyed by water, including the strangest of thoughts. This series explores the whimsical blend of natural and unnatural creations, playing with a childlike approach to art making and perception.
I have become increasingly interested in the creation and actualisation of hybrid animals and mythical sea creatures, drawing from a range of mythologies. These works fuse animals of the ocean and sky to push our acceptance of the unknown. Drawn from the invention of these myths, they employ kitsch practices to create quirky pieces reminiscent of childhood and the ease with which we embraced the unknown.
