Our parties have always looked deeply into the future while stood firmly in the past – we take the best elements of both timelines and create a beautiful audiovisual experience that is unique every month. This time we pay homage to our Italian and French forebears while pushing the next evolution of these classic sounds being currently danced to from London to Lisbon, Manchester to Madrid, Toulouse to Turin, Berlin to Budapest and beyond! Think elements of glittery and glam smoke filled discos juxtaposed with gritty anarchic synth-punk underground clubs and you’re half way there.
Laser Highway parties are safe and radically inclusive events for people of all walks of life. We’re dedicated to presenting the nano-wire edge of alternative electronic music: soft, hard, light or dark. We take inspiration from nostalgia, fantasy, science-fiction, video games and more with high production values and a robust visual style in splashes of vibrant sound and colour. We encourage our patrons to express themselves in however they feel comfortable as long as it does not infringe on the rights of others. Tech-wearables, cool (safe) props and all the neon LEDs, EL Wire and clothing encouraged.
Melbourne born George Hysteric has become a jack of all trades and master of many.
Beginning to create originals and edits on vinyl for many years now, meanwhile running his own Italo-disco centric vinyl imprint Mothball Record. His unique Italian disco and exotic Middle Eastern flavours have found their way to the much coveted Munich based Public Possession, Lisbon imprint Ostra Discos, Parisian label Plaisir Partagé, Bordello A Parigi from Delft and cult edit project Bahnsteig 23.
Famed for his vast vinyl collection of ’80s synth and disco oddities, the Melbourne-based DJ has made crowds go crazy on dancefloors over 7 successful tours playing in France, Netherlands, Austria, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, Canada, Poland, Norway, Lithuania, Russia and Israel.
Beyond this, Hysteric his known for freely sharing his knowledge of Italo-disco and obscure ‘80s music based on years of extensive research.
Neil etched out his musical path listening to the otherworldly sounds of obscure funk and European electronic music from the 70s and 80s. Exploring an array of sound archives from Belgium to Detroit and beyond, the physical journey continued though the steamy basements and factories of Melbourne’s rave scene of the 90s.
Playing recently at Techno Insurgency, Big Red Bus, and Earthcore, get ready for a sci-fi trip into a tapestry of dark, atmospheric, synth-heavy, analogue sounds. “For me, the mix is what counts, rather than specific tracks or genres. How can I sculpt something fresh out of old and new sounds?”
Ed Vice is no stranger to retro sounds. Having played gigs in the last ten years ranging from 80s synthpop to glam metal to freestyle, it was no surprise when he entered the synthwave world – and never left.
ED hosted one of the first retrowave nights in Brazil for three years before moving to Melbourne. His sets mix recent synthwave classics with hidden gems of the retrowave scene.
Zerotonine is the resident DJ and runs Australia’s first monthly club night dedicated to synthwave, cyberpunk, retro electro plus all manner of niche underground electronic music: Laser Highway in Naarm (Melbourne). As a labour of love, he is dedicated to providing a unique experience for music makers and fans alike.
A veteran DJ and creator for over 15 years playing too many genres internationally and at home in Australia, he is in love with arpeggiated basslines, warm synths, and driving drums; his style is inspired by sci-fi and horror cinema, the Lamborghini Countach, boss fights, neon vectors, keytars, androids, power stance guitar solos, cosmic phenomena, bleeps and bloops.
Zerotonine’s influences come from far and wide through his musical awakening: 90s rave, industrial metal, progressive house, nuskool breaks, tech-funk, french touch, indie dance and psychedelia.
His enormous collection encompasses mid-tempo cyber slayers, satanic dark synth, glittery future disco, italo body music, toulousian trancey techno, sensual synth funk, high energy left-field house, night driving outrun, chorus-laden retrowave vocal anthems and much more from the underground.
Expect a range of sonic styles to get your feet stomping, heart pumping and hands raised throwing horns from all corners of the universe.
