LASER HIGHWAY 28 – QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY WEEKEND
SYNTHWAVE // OUTRUN // NEW WAVE // ELECTRO // 80’S AND MORE FROM THE RETRO FUTURE
LIVE: The Euro Theatre / I Hate Max
DJs: Gigavolt / Zerotonine
Laser Highway takes over Loop Project Space and Bar once again to host Australia’s only night dedicated to the very best anything-with-the-word-wav
We are back with a vengeance in 2017 at a new venue, monthly schedule, opening hours, incredible sound, double the lasers, projection art, cocktail list, big screen multiplayer game space and an actual dancefloor (!!!) to transport you to your retro home away from home. We’ve prided ourselves on creating a radically inclusive alternative club night, to give you an experience that’s all about those thumping beats, synthesized basslines, the good times, a touch of nostalgia and camaraderie from your past, present and future friends that you haven’t yet met.
We’ve heard your cries for more ‘wave’ music, and this month we deliver in spades with two incredible live acts and two DJs that will expertly transport you to the future through the lens of the 1980s!
THE EURO THEATRE (LIVE)
The Euro Theatre is a Synthwave artist based in Melbourne, Australia. The man behind this electro madness George Zois (aka King George in another rock dimension) debuted the project in 2016 spawning his most popular singles ‘Tribute’, ‘Promises’ (featured on We Rule Nation Channel) and ‘Retro’ which was featured on New Retro Waves’ April 2017 Miami Cruising Mixtape. George also launched his live show format for The Euro Theatres’ 2016 ‘Believe’ Australian tour featuring his original tunes in sync with amazing 80’s and 90’s nostalgic visuals.
After spending most of this year in the studio The Euro Theatre returns to the stage for the first time in 2017 playing Laser Highway @ Loop Bar.
I HATE MAX (LIVE)
I Hate Max is the solo project of Max Brading (ITSOKMAN) and spends most of its time in a space of darkness, smokey red eyes and strobe lights.
Crooning his way through a quarter life crisis one bottle of red at a time. Max uses low fi samples and moaning, creaky synthesis to create a hot mess of rhythmic looping.
Inspired by sad musicians like Thom Yorke and Ian Curtis, Max uses pirated software to make sad music for you to have a sook at.
Gigavolt has been producing and mixing synth wave, outrun, and electro since 2008. Most recognisable from the wearable tech he wears to Laser Highway, his sound fuses the 80’s neon future with classic cyberpunk themes, always with a heavy beat and lots of drama.
Zerotonine is the host, resident DJ and runs Australia’s first and only monthly club night dedicated to synthwave, outrun, electro, italo-disco, and more from the retro future: Laser Highway in Melbourne. As a labour of love, he is dedicated to providing a unique experience for music makers and fans alike.
A veteran DJ for over a decade playing too many genres internationally and at home in Australia, he is in love with arpeggiated basslines, warm synths, and driving drums; his style is inspired by 80’s movies, the Lamborghini Countach, boss fights, neon vectors, keytars, androids, reverb guitars, cosmic phenomena, bleeps and bloops. Expect a range of sonic styles to get your feet stomping and head rocking from all corners of the retro-verse.
