“One girl with Courage is a Revolution” Around the world, girls face barriers to education that boys do not. Educating girls can break cycles of poverty in just one generation. Indeed, unleashing the potential of adolescent girls is critical to ending global poverty and accelerating progress on some of the toughest global challenges of our time.
On October 31st, Alexandra Hooper and Amelia Williams are hosting a screening of the ground-breaking documentary ‘Girl Rising’ at ‘Loop’ bar and project space. Produced by the organisation 10×10 and Directed by Academy Award nominee Richard Robbins, Girl Rising tells the stories of nine girls from different parts of the world who face arranged marriages, child slavery, and other heartbreaking injustices.
Despite these obstacles, they each offer hope and inspiration. By seeking an education, they are able to break barriers and create change. Each girl’s story was written by a renowned writer from her native country and the film is narrated by Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett, Selena Gomez and other A-list actors.
Join us at this special event to find out how educating girls can change the world – and learn how you can make a difference. Your attendance will send a message: Investing in girls is not just right, it’s smart.
