We like big round numbers and it’s going to be our 40th screening so let’s meet and party on a Saturday! Filmonik is an open-screen short film screening for short films of any genre that have a duration of 5 minutes or less. As an audience member you get to discover new short films for free on a big screen and on a great soundsystem, chat with filmmakers and sip a few beers in a laid back bar environment. As a filmmaker you can show up on the night with your newest film on a USB key and we’ll screen it. Uncurated, spontaneously submitted short films of any genre and of all filmmaking levels create awesome and surprising screenings for the public and for the filmmakers who climb on stage after their film for a quick QA with host Iphigenie Frey. You can read the loose guidelines here:http://filmonik.com.au/how-to-screen/. You can screen and will see comedies, horror, drama, visual experimentations, docos, animations, action, and everything in between.

Filmonik is part of the worldwide Kino movement active in more than 70 cities around the world (http://www.planetekino.com/). You can see it as a non-competitive film fest without the entry fees or just a way to have a pint with funny creative people.
