Join us for a special Saturday night Filmonik screening. We’ve made it to our 50th screening thanks to a constant stream of made-for and made-by Filmonik shorts but also thanks to an impressive dose of spontaneously submitted award winning films from filmmakers looking to extend their festival run and just have a good time with a laid back audience and funky filmmakers. Since Filmonik #1 in May 2013 we’ve been keeping our screen fresh, creative and open.

If you’re not familiar with Filmonik it’s a better-than-ever time to join and see what it’s all about:

Discover new short films for free on a big screen in the CBD on a Void sound system, chat with filmmakers, drink a few pints and party in a laid back bar environment. As a filmmaker you can show up on the night with your newest 5-6 minute or less film on a USB drive and it will get screened. Self organise your own premiere with us or run your festival film without the hassle of submitting, paying entry fees and waiting. Spontaneously submitted short films of any genre and of all filmmaking levels create surprisingly awesome and balanced screenings for the public and for the filmmakers who climb on stage after their film for a quick QA with the host. You can read the loose guidelines here: http://filmonik.com.au/how-to-screen/. You have a good chance to see comedies, horror, drama, visual experimentation, docos, animations, action, and everything in between in equal doses.

SATURDAY June 23 at Loop Project Space and Bar.
