“Visibility is the key to dismantling stereotypes like the idea that there aren’t many women interested in electronic music. This, in turn, inspires more young women and girls to get involved.” wise words from Kaltès – a techno artist and event promoter from Germany who focuses on putting on all-female line-ups and events.

About the artists…

Tarsier is a conjuror, orchestrating beautiful ambient soundscapes in which time stands still, leaving audiences speechless. With extensive experience, unique talent and a knack for versatility and improvisation, Tarsier is a true artiste extraordinaire. Her compositions are full of rich melodicism, detailed arrangements and are powerfully evocative – she is said “to transport the listener”. Melbourne based Tarsier, graces the stage armed with just a cello and experimental technology. She draws out a unique spectrum of sounds from her instrument and builds layer upon layer into ethereal moments in time.

Gliding the boundaries of contemporary soul music and underground beats culture, Misumami represents a splash in a pond of the worldwide soul music scene. Effortless and fluid vibrations pushed from the heart and mind, designed to be felt by the body. The brainchild of singer, producer and musician Charli Habib, with background input from well
established indie producer Inkswel- Misumami represents a new rawness in the over saturated internet age where anybody can create. One part Erykah, one part Little dragon, a touch of Chemise and a nod to Evelyn Champagne King. Her debut solo single “LET THE DRUMS SPEAK” a mere teaser of the future direction of Misumami. Available as a free download on BANDCAMP and featuring friends ILLA J (Detroit) and Lay-Far (Moscow), the free single represents the accumulated sound for the upcoming full length album. With an already impressive musical resume, including and not limited to collaborations with NYAK (Ninja Tune) , Yam Who?, Davis (Soul Clap Records), Kid Sublime, Red Rackem and BBE Records and their previous collaborative group EARLYBIRD SOUL SYSTEM on Dopeness Galore Records.

Symmetrix formed in Melbourne, in 2013 with the vision of creating a sound that would combine both her love of electronica with indie pop and a bit of rock music thrown in for good measure.
Symmetix music draws influence from 80’s inspired synth pop acts such as Depeche Mode, The Human League and more recently Chvrches, The Midnight Juggernauts and The Presets through to alternative/shoegazing/indie rock pioneers My Bloody Valentine right through to indie pop band Tegan and Sara.
Symmetrix released her self-titled EP in August 2015 which has received airplay on Melbourne radio station 3PBS FM, intestate community radio as well as on international internet radio. Symmetrix performs regularly in venues around Melbourne and country Victoria. From making beats on a laptop, the Symmetrix sound has evolved into the layered samples, beats, guitars and the electro pop that you hear today.
