ECHOES returns for its eleventh installment at Loop celebrating the influence of Dub in electronic music. Dub, developed originally in the late sixties focusing on the rhythmic parts of a Reggae recording, grew to be a genre on its own right that has literally shaken the world ever since. It was a powerful experiment that pushed the use of the mixing desk as an instrument and gave greater control to the sound engineer as a producer. It set the blueprint for much of the dance music that has followed.
ECHOES MV11.0 will take you on a bass heavy journey from Kingston to London via Detroit and Berlin. For this edition, residents Matic and Mark Bauman will be joined by the always consistent Daniel Filipovic of Pinksilver Music and welcome the Lost Few for the first time at Echoes doing their intriguing A/V set. As a bonus, they will be in charge of the visuals for the whole evening.
Daniel Filipovic – When it comes to the deeper sounds of Techno, there is no doubt that Daniel is one of the best selectors in Melbourne and we are happy to have him back bringing his touch and lots of new vinyl to the decks at Loop.
Lost Few – Lost Few is not one thing or person, rather a collective term for collaborative work from both visual and audio artists using their skills to create sensory experiences. Remixing each of the two mediums into harmonically tuned events, they manipulate images and audio by cutting and pasting a few songs together to create entirely new sounds in a way that is stimulating and unexpected, making each performance a unique experience.
