ECHOES returns to Loop for its second anniversary, celebrating the influence of Dub in electronic music. We would like to thank all punters and performers for their support over the last two years. The musical journey has been fantastic: from the original versions by the pioneers, through the deepest of dub techno to the most upfront bass beats. As a special gift, we are pleased to host Insect O., an international guest from Germany and owner of Etui Records, bringing his knowledge and experience to the dance floor at Echoes. We’ll also welcome Melbourne’s own dub techno creators, Echo Inspectors, back for another of their exclusive live sets. To complement the celebrations, VJ Netzair will be in charge of the visual stimulation.
This is a big thank you to everyone who’s supported us along the way and it’s free, so there’s no excuse to not enjoy the spring vibes while listening to deep textures and bass heavy beats in one of Melbourne’s laneways.
Insect O. Oliver Hartmann is a Dresden native who’s been buying records and making music since the age of 14. He’s the owner of Etui records, one of the underground labels pushing the melodic sound of dub techno, and, as a producer, his music is melodic with a touch of deepness. However, with many years of experience under his belt, he’s not afraid to pursuit a wider range of sounds as an artist, with some of his tracks ranging from broken beats and electronica to rough techno. He also shares a passion for traveling and filming, being inspired by the places that he visits and collecting images to use on the video clips for his tracks. After spending a few days in Australia before his performance at Echoes, we are eager to listen to the inspiration from this trip through his track selection.
Echo Inspectors The project of Mark Baumann and Lance Harrison, two minds controlling multiple layers of sound and efx, playing a live set showcasing some of the new material that they’ve been creating in the studio. Every performance is a musical experience with depth, tension and rhythm.
