Chloe Sugden and Christopher Williams-Wynn are excited to announce the launch of Dissect Journal, a new Melbourne-based contemporary art publication.

Locally-based but with an international outlook, Dissect Journal presents feature-length essays, shorter reviews and artist pages from both emerging and established contributors. Through this variety of material, we seek to reflect the manifold interconnections between contemporary art and the world.

In our first issue we explore the ways in which contemporary art can interact with the urban landscape and inspire varied experiences of public space. The production of public space and public art entails an enquiry into the meaning of ‘public’, itself subject to debate.

Come along and have a drink, pick up a copy and meet the contributors.

DJs for the evening include Instant Peterson and SIM-VIN back-to-back (Salmon Barrel and James Vinci of Total Control).

We will be screening video art by our contributors all night, and works by Melbourne artists Hiroyasu Tsuri (Two One) and Shida will also be on display.

Dissect Journal is edited by Chloe Sugden and Christopher Williams-Wynn, and designed by James Oates and Clare Wohlnick.
