Or, how to be a designer living in the Anthropocene.

User Centred design is one of the dominant practices in use today, with design thinking reaching into all levels of business. While noble in intent, it tends to limit the scope of our work to a relationship with a singular user at the time of interaction.

This night will present a range of talks exploring how contemporary experience design practice could take a broader ecological and systemic view that doesn’t just situate users, customers, and humans at the centre of our work. To prepare ourselves for the future means prototyping the ideas and mindsets that might get us there.

The two speakers, Rachel Bucknall and Sam Rye will explore new modes of working and thinking in design that expands out away from limiting our viewpoints to be just focus on a singular user.

This event is part of Melbourne Design Week 2019, an initiative by Creative Victoria in partnership with NGV
