Time has flown since we first announced news of the ‘Strawberry Fields x CDR Australia’ producers project. Three months on, the top twenty-five submissions are live to stream via the Strawberry Fields SoundCloud and it’s up to you, through your plays, reposts and likes, to decide which of the tracks will top the rest.

In line with this, the next CDR Melbourne session will be a Strawberry Fields special. Set for Wednesday October 15th, we add to the usual ‘submit-your-tracks’ format with an official competition judging session, where the ten finalists (including the most played/liked/reposted) will be announced.

The judging, however, is not just down to our CDR resident-folk and the Strawberry Fields reps. On this night only, we shrink the globe to bring the opinions of heavyweight producers Funk D’Void (Lars Sandberg) and Secret Cinema (Jeroen Verheij), who will listen in to judge comfortably from the UK and the Netherlands, respectively.

Tracks will be judged based on their suitability for the atmosphere of Strawberry Fields as well as the 2014 line-up, but demonstrations of skill and originality in each track will, of course, be taken into account. The winner will receive a gorgeous pair of AIAIAI TMA-1 Studio headphones.

The evening’s icing on the cake is guest producer CHILD, whose deeply textural and refreshingly varied techno/house beats are sounds to behold, and who has himself has played Strawberry Fields in the past. He’s set to return this year too, performing alongside fellow producer SQL as a part of what looks to be a stellar lineup.
