Arduinos, Insertable Technology, Voice Assistants, Deep Learning
Join us on the 26th of October for presentations about some of the technologies and workshops you’ll find at the BuzzConf Technology Festival this year.
This month is packed with presentations on Arduinos, Insertable Technology, Voice Assistants, Deep Learning & Maker Culture.
Tickets are also now on sale for the festival in December, but if you haven’t yet got a ticket and want to see what all the buzz is about first – this is a great session to come down to! You can also see videos from many of our events on YouTube.
Held in The Loop Bar in Melbourne, there will be plenty of options to eat and drink late into the night!
6pm – Drinks and socialising
7pm – Presentations
8pm until late – Demos, Music, drinks, and party
Nightmare Light, Laura Summers
Ever wanted to create a creepy baby-spider with glowing eyes, or a glowing many-limbed Frankenstein doll? This is your chance to design, build and program your own nightmare light, using found objects, an Arduino, a bit of 3D printing and your own imagination.
Insertables – you put what where? Kayla Heffernan
The human body has emerged as more than a canvas for wearable electronic devices. Devices too go within the body, such as internal medical devices. Within the last decade, individual hobbyists have begun voluntarily inserting non-medical devices in, through and underneath their skin.
How Much does Siri Really Understand? Erin Zimmer
With the (relatively) recent launches of Siri, Alexa and Google Voice, speech recognition has finally moved beyond just being a way to annoy call centre customers. Over fifty years of research have gone into getting us to this point. Why did it take so long? And how much do these systems really understand?
Deep Learning, Andy Kitchen
Learn to build and train a deep neural network to perform basic recognition tasks. This intensive, half-day course will take you from “zero to hero” of neural networks without needing to learn any of the underlying maths.
How Maker Culture will Shape the Future of Tomorrow, Gil Poznanski
Making is cool, but is it more than just people in a garage, learning a new skill? Come along and discover why Making is an integral part of humankind, why it creates a platform for anyone to express themselves, and how industry of the future will come to honour Making for the transformation of civilisation and culture itself.
Have Something to Say?
We’re always on the look out for presentations, discussions and demonstrations for BuzzConf Nights. If you have something you’d like to share, please get in touch. You don’t need to have a tonne of experience, just a willingness to share your passion.
Have Something to Show?
You’ll occasionally see a robot spider body, or LED list helmet at BuzzConf events. If you have some exciting tech that you’d like to bring, please do! There’ll be plenty of time during before and after the talks to show it off.
See you in the future!
