Behind the Lens is a mental health based short film festival run by Australian Catholic University students to raise awareness of these important issues as well as funds for Headspace, Australia’s National Youth Mental Health Foundation.
Over 25% of young Australians aged 16 to 24 are currently suffering from a mental health issue.
Film has allowed many to explore and express their struggles, giving them a platform to tell their stories. These stories will now be shown, many of them for the first time, to help others reflect on their own mental health and to consider if they might need help.
Headspace representatives will be present at the event providing free information and assistance to anyone seeking help about a mental health issue.
100% of funds raised by donations and the $10 entry cost go towards the running of creative programs at Headspace Collingwood.
Submission of films closes Monday May 16th.
