MONDAY 2 August - 6:30pm - PROCESS      

Process invites you to the rather unofficial 2010 institute of architects awards wrap-up. While some of the gongs were taken out by the usual suspects for the usual civic structures, the year also saw the success of a number of smaller, smarter firms. This coming Monday, we showcase these winning practices and projects

TUESDAY 3 August - 7:30pm - STELARC: The Man with Three Ears      

In April 2009 British film maker Nick Ahlmark went to Paris for a weekend to shoot a documentary about controversial Australian performance artist Stelarc for Spike Jonze's VBS.TV. The resulting 17 minute film, Stelarc: The Man with Three Ears follows the Melbourne born and bred Stelarc as he sets up a retrospective exhibition of his work and talks about his most recent project, The Extra Ear. Stelarc has had a construct of an ear made of stem cells from his rib cage implanted onto his left arm and aspires to use bluetooth technology to make it actually function. This special screening - an Australian premiere - will feature a directors cut of the film with both Nick Ahlmark and Stelarc in attendance for a Q & A

   

THURSDAY 5 August - 6:30pm - GADOH Screening      

Gadoh tells a story of a group of teenagers who fought each other; a cycle of hatred and violence further escalated by their environment and school system. A quick resolution to improve the school’s bad image was taken as an opportunity for one teacher whom believed that real change was possible. Gadoh presents a telling story encouraging a single vision of unity where Malaysians can work together with others and make a difference locally and overseas. THURSDAY 5 August - 7:30pm - THE SANDPIT      

It's not networking, it's playing.
If you're a freelance creative from any profession then come along to The Sandpit and venture out of the isolation of creative freelancing. If you hate networking but like meeting people over a few drinks this is the event for you. There's no agenda and no catch - just drinks, good conversation and an opportunity to share ideas with like-minded individuals. Held on the first Thursday of every month from 7.30 at LOOP. THURSDAY 5 August - 9pm - PHOTOGRAPHY NIGHT WALKS      

Photography night walks will be held every Thursday and Sunday from 6.30pm - 8.30pm at different locations in the Melbourne CBD. Each Thursday will be followed by the screening of that nights works immediately after at Loop from 9.00pm. All levels of experience welcome. Night Walk cost $15 - Just bring yourself and your camera and come to Loop afterwards for instant visual gratification and a warm drink. Ever think that your weekend was too short to go out and listen to the same dull music all night? That your ears and feet deserve better? Music Appreciation Society: where selections journey through genres as far as the eye can see. Soul, HipHop, Boogie & Disco with everything in between and beyond. SATURDAY 7 August - 4pm - FOREST COLLECTIVE presents LOVE DOGS      
Forest Collective is proud to present Love Dogs written and directed by Stephanie Osztreicher, featuring writing by Ashley Clarke. This project was developed a year ago through Western Edge Youth arts mentorship program, under the guidance of Melbourne based director Yvonne Virsik. This will be the second staging of the work which takes on a new life in the intimate setting of Loop. These characters invite you be a part of their imaginations. Imaginations of which only the lonely and people with a life built on unmovable predictability can posses. Together with a bitter sweet musical arraignment mixed with visual treats, a quirky afternoon of theatrics is offered to all. Also a part of the afternoons entertainment will be a performance of Keys and Locks for solo Violin composed by Evan Lawson and Sonata for Solo Violin by Paul Hindemith both performed by Isabel Hede.    
SATURDAY 7 August - 10pm - PICKLED BEATS      
Loop will be the hottest place in town when the Pickled Beats crew return to give you a night full of rocking tunes that will get your blood pumping! DJs Zanda, Lickweed and Mr. Nice will be on the wheels of steel playing Funk, Hip Hop, Funky breaks and DnB.
The pickled residents are joined by DJ Ego who will be in charge of visuals for the night supplying you with an amazing audio visual show like you've never seen before - not to be missed! So don't stay at home under the covers, come down to loop and you'll be sure to get your dance on when the boys show their skills.
