We’re kicking off the first BuzzConf Nights this year at Loop Project Space and Bar with an insightful conversation about the future of technology with our friends at Future Crunch. The evening promises to deliver entertainment and frivolity, living up to the typical energy and variety of the BuzzConf festival!
We’re also excited to be bringing live entertainment from Tanushree – check out her geeky reworking of Pharrell Williams’s “Happy”https://www.youtube.com/
If you want a little taste of what the BuzzConf festival is all about, this event is a great place to start. You can also see what happened at previous events on our website.
Held in The Loop Project Space and Bar in Melbourne, there will be plenty of options to eat and drink late into the night!
HAVE SOMETHING TO SHOW?
You’ll occasionally see a robot spider body, or LED list helmet at BuzzConf events. If you have some exciting tech that you’d like to bring, please do! There’ll be plenty of time during before and after the talks to show it off.
6pm – Drinks and socialising
7pm – Fireside chat
8pm until late – Music, drinks, and party
Future Crunch is a Melbourne based think tank that fosters intelligent, optimistic thinking for the future. They help people understand what’s on the frontiers of science and technology, and work with organisations to find creative ways to navigate the next economy. They believe that disruptive technologies are bringing about a world that is more peaceful, transparent and abundant.
Their founders, Angus and Tané, return to BuzzConf Nights for a fireside conversation about the future. They’ll be joined by colleagues Will Tait, leader singer of the pirate gypsy punk folk band 8 Foot Felix, and Tanushree Rao, who combines popular music and geek culture to create entertaining and comedic interludes. There will be geekery and science. There will be music. Someone is almost certainly going to be guilty of a fashion crime. Don’t miss it.
Dr Angus Hervey is a political economist, writer, and professional speaker on the topic of disruptive technologies. Tané is a science communicator, futurist and bioinformatician. He works with big data in the biological realm and specialises in cancer research. Tanushree is a communicator, writer and musician with a background in international development. She analyses how technology can interact with global issues, including human rights, refugees, clean energy, sustainable development and poverty alleviation. Will Tait is an MC, musician and presenter with a talent for inspiring wonder and empowerment. He is motivated by the sense that our modern global culture is reaching out for a new story about the workings of the world, a story in which we see ourselves as integrally connected to each other and our universe.
SEE YOU IN THE FUTURE!
